 Yevgeny Yehudin

Yevgeny Yehudin makes me like the Artie Shaw Concerto again after this smoothly direct and unforced performance. He plays all the glissandi up and down full-length with perfect control and no exaggeration, just as they should be. Fine nuances in tone and dynamics; creative use of circular breathing; nicely understated and musical throughout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhm3UqRJFBc.

Curious as to the set-up Yehudin used for this performance, I asked him and he kindly provided these details: An American bore Rossi clarinet, which he has used for the last ten years, a Silverstein ligature, a "very open" Pomerico crystal mouthpiece (but apparently not the Backun/CG model), and a Pilgerstorfer reed.
