 Sweeney Todd

Got the following from someone trying to contract a pit group for Sweeney Todd:

I have to use the alternate orchestration which only has 9 players, primary reason being the pit is so tight that even occupancy of 10 people means becoming good friends! There are only 2 Reed books and one is Clarinet, the other Bassoon.

Has anyone played this version? If so, is the clarinet book just for Bb or is there any Eb or any bass? And was it fun to play?

Thanks,
D.O.

I played the bassoon book. I don't remember any bass or Eb clarinet being played. I enjoyed the music, it's always fun for me.

Hi there,

It has Bb only. There are many beautiful solo lines to play in that version.
