Orchestral Score for Georges Marty's Premiere Fantaisie
Author: cjb729

Hello! I'm a college sophomore clarinetist and currently studying Georges Marty's Premiere Fantaisie. While viewing the piano score, I noticed some cues for celli, bassoons, timpani, etc. and discovered that there must be an orchestral arrangement out there somewhere! Does anyone know of where to find this arrangement, or know how I might get a glimpse at it? Thanks! :)

Your music library reference librarian is always your first resource. S/he has reference materials that can help you track down the information.

You begin, of course, with the publisher's name printed on your part. Then go to Grove and other resources (including Google) to find out more about Marty.

Have you asked your clarinet prof about Marty?

Ken Shaw

P.S., I don't see a star by your name showing a contribution to this board. Kick in a few bucks to support the effort.

Ken - I've loved your posts ever since I first joined the board...but it's Clarissa's very first post. Perhaps it would be wise to wait until she's actually found a benefit from the board before hitting her up for donations.

If your P.S. had appeared in my first post, I doubt I would have stuck around to find out how much fun the board can be! ;)

When I was looking for the arrangement for full ensemble, my friend found it in a catalog I was unfamiliar with, being outside academia.

I was told it was on rental agreement only. I stopped searching at that point. I wish I could get that info to you. I don't have it any more.

I wonder if you could contact the Paris Conservatoire. It was written for their Jury exams shortly before the turn of the 1900's.

Let us know what you find, and good luck! (I am performing this piece in May. It's great fun!)

Brian

Hi, Brian!

I was able to find a copy at the Free Library of Philadelphia in the Fleisher Collection! They do charge for rentals and scans of scores in their collection, and I am currently in the process of obtaining a scanned copy.

Good luck with your performance!!
