 A quick question about cases

Hi all,

After years of fighting my plastic marching instrument in the concert setting, I have finally purchased a new instrument. After trying out demo models, friends' horns, and considering the positive aspects of my own Yamaha student model to get a feel for what I was looking for, I have purchased a Buffet Tradition that I think will give me the reliable, deep sound I'm looking for.

The only problem is that, while the case is compact and actually fun to open, it doesn't have enough space for even a swab. I was going to buy a ProTec case cover, but I'm worried about the case being too small for the cover and it being thrown around. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Store your pullthough in the bell.

I put the case in a cloth briefcase from Lands End. There is a full-length pocket on the outside to hold music folders, lots of inside pockets for reeds, swab, even a place for pencils. I probably carry too much stuff because there is so much room. I also like the shoulder strap. Of course you should measure your case to make sure it will fit.

Enjoy your new instrument!

This is my vote as well. Keep the compact case, put it in a backpack or briefcase, or shoulderbag or something.

Go to REI and get a weatherproof messenger bag that holds your case size. You'll have all the storage space you need. I find the Timbuk2 brand has openings that fit rectangular cases quite well.
