You Tube "Denise Plays Stranger On The Shore" : Anyone know where I can get the backing track for this for Bb clarinet? Free if available?

If you happen to have a Facebook account, Denise runs the Clarinet Jazz Point group. I don't see a "personal contact" for her, but you might be able to post something there to find out what she used as a backing track.

My sheet music is in key of C and first two notes are G3 and G4.
Does anyone know what the first two notes of the low, middle, and high parts start with in the you tube video? Want to write the music for for the middle and high parts and I cannot be certain.

"Does anyone know what the first two notes of the low, middle, and high parts..."

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're asking, but if you're asking about the clarinet part - let me know what the time is (roughly) on the youtube video for the areas you're talking about (for instance, 1:35?), and I'll be happy to help you out.

It modulates to clarinet key of F major. First two notes are C4 and C5.

I am trying to learn the two higher parts after the low part but it is too fast for me to try to read my tuner and I am not sure my ear is good and quick enough to match the tones. Basically I want to know what key they are in so I can write the notes on staff paper to play by. I am sure I am playing in key of C from sheet music but unsure what the keys of the 3 parts on You Tube are played in. I have a Bb clarinet and a Korg CA-1 chromatic tuner set to 440Hz but I am not expert at understanding all this and I may be mis-stating something. I am not trying to match the video because I may be playing flat or variable but wanted to know what someone better than I thinks about what keys the low, middle and high part in played in. Hope that explains it better. If I know the key I can write the music notes. Thanks.

TO FUZZY: The 2nd note beginning the verse comes at a time of :14 Low,
1:47 middle, and 2:49 high. I guess first note is a pickup and 2nd starts the verse.

Hi,

BGBG:

Here's some information for you - please let me know if I've misunderstood what you're looking for...

1. At :14 - it is indeed G, then G up an octave to start out (then g f g e f e c f)
2. At 1:47 - the notes are f g a bflat a d g (etc)
3. At 2:49 - the notes are up one octave from item 2 above: f g a bflat a d c

Please note: the notes I provided are transposed for Bb clarinet - if you're wanting the concert pitches, please let me know.

Hope this helps,
Fuzzy

Yes, that seems about right. I am not used to doing this so will need some time to work on it. But what I had in mind was to verify the notes and key then transpose from the low part I am playing. To be on my Bb clarinet it seem like the first two low notes to start at :14 would be G3 and G4. Not sure I can even play the highest notes.
This has helped a lot and I appreciate it.
Thanks again, BG

Great!

Here's another great song that is really pretty and is roughly in the same difficulty level of the one you're looking at (this rendition stays low in the verse and chorus).

Oh, Fuzzy.... Is at 2:49 the last note listed g or c, like is it a,d, G or a, d, C ?

Maybe still in F major but up another octave?

I don't even know these highest notes and not all that familiar with the middle ones but it is a challenge and I plan to learn them.

At 2:49 the pattern ends on a C - otherwise, it is the same as the pattern at 1:47 (except up an octave).

Here's another that fits within this range of difficulty and works very well.

Thanks for that one, Tony!! I had somehow missed Hushabye. I love Monty's version of Petite Fleur too!

Just so you know, I succeeded in transposing the middle section to F major and being familiar with most of the notes I was able to play it and it sounded correct.
So now I will work on the high part which if I am correct is up another octave and also in F major. Like to get practice in doing this.

Still have not succeeded in finding a backing track though. At least not this one.

I've written to Denise on your behalf - but I haven't received a response yet. I'll let you know if she writes back.

I think I have the middle part notes written out correctly. They sound right, tuner reads lower and keyboard concert pitch shows Bb matches the video 2nd and 3rd notes which I have written as a C6 in the sheet music.
I have the high part written as C5 C6 C6 Bb5 Bb5 A5 Bb5 A5 F5 Bb4 which sounds correct on keyboard but the video sounds half step lower I guess. This still is confusing to me.
I expected to have trouble in this high range for first time but the Bb5 and the A5 sound almost alike. Blowing very hard seems to help. I am using a Rico 3 reed. Any tips on these notes or just keep on practicing them?
I am playing a simple version and not the extra notes embellishments.

I think I discovered my problem. I am using the L hand trill key instead of the R hand trill key to play Bb5. I shall try this tomorrow and see.
