 Pawn Shop Purchase

Went to a local shop here in town and bought a Bundy Resonite Clarinet for $25
Would need new pads. corks and key adjustment, but I can have that done here not to expensively
The key work actually looks nice and appears pretty rugged.
The horn seems pretty light weight which I guess was important for all the young kids playing these Instruments. but would be a big plus for my sore thumb.
I need a plastic Horn for all of the Church outdoor Funeral Events I do
I've been using my good wood Clarinet and I feel I'm skating on thin ice :(
so thumbs up or down on getting this Horn repaded?
I'd like to think this Horn still has some life left in it instead of turning it into a lamp !

There have been many references on this Board describing the Bundy as being "built like a tank". It is one of the best student grade clarinets, ideal for outdoor use. Well worth having repaired.

It should be said that even though you can buy a brand new clarinet of the same or similar type for around the cost of a full overhaul, the likelihood is that one that's had the time and money spent on it will end up being a much better instrument than a new one as most beginner level plastic clarinets only just pass quality control and a lot of the fit and finishing is rationalised to keep the end cost down.

So even if you only spent as little as $25 on a plastic Bundy or similar, they are a tried and tested workhorse that will give decades of good service if they're well maintained. Don't think it's not worth it due to the purchase price if it's a decent instrument.

Older Bundys - I'm in the 'built like a tank' crowd. They are great for outdoor gigs, once properly overhauled.
