I am having some trouble identifying my Clarinet. The serial number appears to have seven digits, but not letter or anything beside any of them. The "10" is slightly offset, but taking the 10 out of the beginning on the serial number, leaving 29047, implies this Clarinet was made between 1945 and 1947 (based on a serial number chart). I'm not very experience in this, so any help is appreciated.

Is there a logo on the top of the upper joint? It seems like this is a Buffet E11 but I would need to see more pictures to be sure.

The Buffet Crampon logo that was on the instrument has worn off over the years. It is a Buffet instrument.

Okay, then it is definitely a Buffet E11

It's an E11 - not made by Buffet, but made for Buffet by Schreiber. It's fairly recent.

Yes, I have seen an e11 with a similar thumb rest.

I've got a B12 (plastic version of the E11) on my bench right now with that exact same thumbrest. They're notorious for breaking as they're die cast and either the sliding part of the thumbrest will break or the locking screw threads will strip if overtorqued.

Schreiber lacquer the wood to make the joints look uniform in colour whereas Buffet stain their clarinet bodies with alcohol based dye from the E13 to the R13/RC for the same reason. The Prestige and models above that are left unstained.

Schreiber use their own serial numbering system for the B10, B12 and E11 which doesn't relate to clarinets made by Buffet.
