Has anyone tried Rovner's Platinum ligature? I thinking of buying one.

I have used the Platinum for a number of years, and also use it for alto saxophone and bass clarinet. It is a good ligature, especially for the price at some of the discount internet sites such as Muncy Winds, Weiner Music, WWBW, etc.
If you are changing back and forth between A and B-flat, it does have a tendency to slip if the mouthpiece cork is not well greased. For that reason, I have been using the Ishimori ligature for soprano clarinet. I find that the Ishimori produces a more resonant sound with more of the higher overtones, and the Rovner produces a slightly larger tone. Differences in feel are about the same if the Rovner is not tightened down too much. Of course, that contributes to more slippage if the mouthpiece has to be taken off the barrel.
Rovner redesigned the soprano clarinet version a year or so ago to help reduce the tendency to slip, but since my mouthpiece has a greater outside diameter than most, I'm not sure it helped much in my case.
If you are looking for the sound that a metal ligature can produce (generally more of the higher overtones compared to a fabric ligature),then the Platinum might fill the bill. No ligature is a magic bullet, in my opinion, and depending on the reed, some of the less expensive Rovner fabric ligatures could actually sound better.

Check out Vandoren Optimum as well. Like all of the hardware, it's personal preferences. Whatever works for you and what YOU like.

AS rdc says....it slips pretty easily. I like the sound I get...but have converted my Bass Clarinet And Bb both to Francois Louis Ultimates. I've tried Silversteins, Rovner Platinum and Rico H...among others....but the FL is my first choice now. However...slippage when changing mouthpieces is still an issue...just not an issue for me on Bass Clarinet.

Just bought one. The sound is great. My only problem is that the pins don't line up very well on the reed (though it holds it just fine; just not aesthetically pleasing to me). Even though it doesn't look straight on the mouthpiece, it plays beautifully. I've also used the Rovner Dark. Only problem I found is that the material appears to stretch.

Right now, I am a big fan of the Rovner Platinum ligature. I think it helps promote a full, woody sound, while still facilitating very clean, fast articulation.
Since I switch barrel and mouthpiece between Bb and A slippage is not an issue with me.
I'll try the Platinum on my next concert (Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique) and report back!

Walter, can you disclose what barrel are you using that enables you to use it on both the A and Bb? I've been using an A barrel for both A and Bb when switching, and it's an "okay" solution.
