When playing a 2.5 reed going from F4 to G4 to Bb4 I get a squeak after the F4. I do not think I am moving more mouthpiece into mouth. I do find I am perhaps relaxing embouchure a bit and when tighten it the squeak is less or absent. I have not thought of this before nor had this problem. Is it recommended to keep the embouchure tight? I would think so but have never seen it discussed or been told to so I have not thought about it before. I fear I may have overlooked this technique. Do you agree?

I've been going through a similar situation. Several people told me to keep my embouchure consistent as well as my air flow. I tried it. It works. You have to think about the first 100 time or so (for me), but then becomes second nature. I'm curious. What do you mean by "tight"? I find that I change my embouchure when I change instruments, mostly because I move between an Evette & Schaeffer and a Leblanc Opus.

The embouchure should, absent any specific reason for doing otherwise, be kept stable. Changes in pressure encourage changes in the way the reed vibrates. Should your embouchure be tight? It depends on what you mean by tight, so I can't answer that. But the reed should be under control and the embouchure should not be moving around to accomplish intervals as close together as the ones you've asked about in this and other posts.
Play the upper note with the best quality you can produce. Try to play the lower note with the same embouchure and air. If it works for both notes, the interval should come out cleanly.
I'm assuming you're using the regular (RK+A) fingering for Bb. Going from F4 to Bb you need to get the register key down cleanly. If you open it too soon you might conceivably be forcing an out-of-tune C6 before you get everything where it needs to go for Bb.

I must be concentrating on the notes and relaxing the embouchure. As I said, I am not used to monitoring the embouchure and I guess by tight I mean tighter than it is when I squeak. Firm and constant may be a better term. I think I am relaxing it but not positive at this point. It is a new sond so am thinking about the notes and fingering and timing.
