Did I get ripped off? www.WWBW.com

Hi guys, anyone bought from this store before, or know if they are real?

Purchased an Mouth piece and a couple ligatures from them an week ago, after receiving no order confirmation (the money went out of my account straight away), I messaged them asking about the status of my order.

I was told "it has been shipped".

A couple days later, after still not receiving any tracking information, I messaged them again, to be told my order doesn't exist. After some back and forth they must have finally "found" my order, and I got the following reply:

"I am showing that your order was shipped out on the 17th of this month. Once the shipment has cleared the international customs facility it will be passed on to a different shipping company, Once this happens you should be receiving a tracking number"

Reckon my stuff will ever show up, or did I get plain scammed by a fake website?

Even if it is real, and my stuff turns up, I won't be purchasing from this store again. Not only do none of their staff seem to know what is going on, I'm currently at 7 out of the "4-8 day shipping" and the items haven't even left the USA yet. Bit of a mickey mouse outfit if you ask me.

Riley,

I order from WWBW all the time and have never had a problem with being "scammed" in any way. However, with an international shipment which I often have from a seller on Amazon or from eBay, it is seldom that I get a tracking number. But everything shows up in the end.

So, did you get a good price on the purchase? I would make a decision on whether to purchase again after you see how it all comes out. While electronic tracking of a package is really neat, every stop for your purchase along the way does not always scan.

They are very legit. PLUS they are great about matching prices if you find an item cheaper, or should I say less expensive, elsewhere.

I'm in Australia and I've bought from them with no problems. International shipping is frequently a bit problematic, but in my (limited) experience they've come through OK for me. If your stuff doesn't show up, if you paid with a card you may be eligible for a "Cashback" if the transaction goes belly-up.

That's always been a great site to me. But I've never had to deal with overseas/international side. The 4-8 days may not have been a proper estimate for overseas shipping and sounds more like a proper estimate for USA shipping (same country as wwbw).

Overall, I've heard very very VERY few negative business experiences about them. You may have been one of the very unlucky few.

I wouldn't let it deter you from future orders from this company, but maybe call instead of ordering online (if possible) and ask if items are back ordered or in stock, and when they will ship.

I ship worldwide. This is normal. You should get your package within or around 2 weeks, depending on Customs.

Riley,

One final comment and that is if you were expecting to converse with a musically-oriented person for your inquiry via email, those days are pretty well gone. You probably got a sales person who sends routine responses.

I used to visit the WWBW store in S. Bend, Indiana quite often and always connected with a terrific professional. However, the retail store closed several years ago and everything is now on-line. Products I buy will quite often come from another location quite far from Indiana.

I finally got a Tracking link today, it looks like it is still in The USA. It seems the delay is because instead of just shipping it directly via DHL, they ship it twice, once to an DHL sort facility, then ship it via DHL. Considering the $65 shipping cost, this is pretty terrible.

I've had parcels larger/heavier then this shipped to me in one business day from the USA, for less shipping cost then that.

I have used Thomann in Germany and they are GREAT. Shipped straight off no problem. I think their base international shipping rate is $45 US dollars.

Maybe some places find it difficult to ship to New Zealand.

I have shipped products to New Zealand hundreds of times. Never have I lost a package. You do have to have patience. From the U.S., using Fedex often takes at least a week. Other carriers can easily take 10 days.

Very difficult return policy for international, but I always got my orders. It's not a fake website at all. Did it arrive yet?

Yes it arrived, ended up taking them 8 days to get it shipped, and four days for it to ship internationally.

Riley,

You said some rather harsh things about WWBW in your first post. Do you still feel the same way?

Also, where do you plan to purchase musical items next since "Even if it is real, and my stuff turns up, I won't be purchasing from this store again."

Twelve days from WWBW to New Zealand does not seem all that bad to me. I have had things take that long just getting across the United States. They may have been optimistic about the shipping time but, if it was your first order with them, they may have wanted to be sure your payment was cleared before they shipped. I have had international orders of in stock items take as much as six weeks to get to me. I think the moral is, if you needed it yesterday, don't order it internationally. I have seen a tongue in cheek bit in this country of a woman ordering something on line then getting up from her chair and going to the door to see if her package was there yet. How long did you have it in hand before you acknowledged here that you had received it? By the information you provided, your acknowledgment came about twenty-seven days after the order shipped. Even the best companies have an occasional glitch. It sounds like you were originally given the shipping time for orders within the United States. There was some reason you chose to order from WWBW rather than somewhere else. Now that you have a reasonable time frame for shipping, is that reason still valid?

There's no good going to come from being impatient.

I sell internationally on Amazon and eBay. Once I put an item in the mail I have no control over how it's handled or how long it takes to be delivered or what happens to your order once it's in the mail.

Unless you opted and paid for overnight or 2 day mail it takes as long as it takes and a seller has no ability to manage that.

After your order comes in, the seller has to make a trip to the post office. Besides slow service, there's weekends and holidays to slow down the mail and if it's international it gets passed onto a third and fourth party for delivery.

If integrity of the seller is an issue with you, you're best to shop eBay and use their feedback system to find a seller with a high seller satisfaction score of 99% to 100%.

And it works both ways. If a buyer is quick to accuse sellers of scamming them all the time, that buyer will get bad reviews, have a low buyer rating and sellers may cancel their bids.

Actually, Bruno, there is no feedback recourse for sellers on eBay. The seller cannot give a negative rating, all you can do as a seller is give a positive rating and make a negative comment. Twice I have had "buyers" for clarinet items who never paid. If I want to get my fees back, I have to file to cancel the sale, after which I cannot leave feedback at all.

While I do look at a seller's rating (and mine is 100%) I also look at the comments to see what went wrong. Not all buyers are reasonable, and if you don't have lots of transactions one negative can take you down.

But to the original point, I agree that 12 days to NZ is about par for the course. I'm sure WWBW has an agreement with DHL and probably handled their end in reasonable time. I've ordered from them a fair bit and never known their initial processing to take more than a business day. Shipping company performance can vary considerably.

The concern wasn't over the total time for this to arrive to me, but the time it took for them to even acknowledge my order existed. I emailed them several days after purchase and was told my order didn't exist.

Second was the lack of an tracking link, EVERY online store I've ever purchased from, national or international has sent me an shipping tracking within two business days.

"Twelve days from WWBW to New Zealand does not seem all that bad to me." -

12 days isn't bad at all, but it is bad when only 4 of those days was the shipping time, and the other 8 was how long it to to prepare the order for shipping.

"You said some rather harsh things about WWBW in your first post." You'll have to point these out to me, reading through my post all I can see is factual statements about my experience with the company, and a question to the members of these forums. The only direct comment I made about them, was calling them a mickey mouse outfit, which seems fairly fitting after being told by one member of their staff that "the order has been shipped" (4 days before the order has actually been shipped), and then by another staff member that my order didn't exist.
