I recently ordered an inverted Bonade ligature and cap for my bass clarinet (via Amazon since I had gift cards; shipped separately as they were from 2 different suppliers). The cap arrived today and I realized that I somehow ordered a regular instead of inverted. I went to look for an inverted bass cap and can't seem to find one anywhere.
Do they exist? I'm guessing the regular cap won't work with the inverted ligature, but I won't know for sure until the ligature arrives. Cap looks a little out of round anyway on the side (it was shipped in a padded envelope, so I'm surprised it wasn't crushed), so it may not work regardless. I looked in all the obvious places I buy accessories, but no luck.
Suggestions? Finding ligatures that hold Legeres securely to my Fobes Debut mouthpiece has been a challenge. My Rovner Eddie Daniels doesn't get tight enough to prevent excess movement, especially with Legere Signature reeds. The Bonade inverted works on my Bb clarinet with Signatures, so I figured it would work on bass as well.

The Bonade ligature is symmetrical. Any cap that fits the regular version will also fit the inverted version.
Caps are deliberately made of soft metal so that they can be bent to fit your particular mouthpiece and reed.
Even with plastic reeds, I would always take the reed off the mouthpiece before putting it in the case. Otherwise it sticks to the lay. Also, with the ligature tight, you run the risk of deforming the shape of the mouthpiece and reed. Finally, it's very important to clean out the mouthpiece, which you can't do with the reed on.

I stock plastic caps in all sizes including Rovner caps. Customers can fgigure out what size works. Maybe a shop near you will have a selection.

This became moot when my ligature arrived today crushed flat (why did they ship it in a padded envelope instead of a box?). Back they both go and I keep using the ligature that makes my reed slip and the instrument harder to play, I guess. One's reed shouldn't rock back and forth as they play. There is a Music & Arts sort of near me, but it isn't the safest walk from the bus stop as there aren't sidewalks in the area (or the loveliest since winter weather has finally arrived here with a vengeance and temps are hovering around zero).
I know all about not leaving reeds on the mouthpiece all the time. I'm trying to find something that keeps the reed in place and protects it while I switch between instruments in orchestra or in the pit.
