 Most beautiful woodwind quintet piece?
Author: ClariYES

I have a friend getting married and she's looking for something different than the standard walk down the aisle pieces. She would prefer a woodwind quintet piece or possibly orchestra but is open to string quartet or piano.

So what's the most beautiful woodwind quintet piece you know of that would be suitable for the occasion? All suggestions are appreciated and if you know of anything other than a woodwind quintet that might be great feel free to suggest it as well.

I am partial to the Ligeti Six Bagatelles for Woodwind Quintet. In there there may be something that fits a wedding .......but walking down the aisle?

I suggest Gigliotti's arrangement of the Haydn Feldparthi, which Brahms used for his Variation's on a Theme by Haydn. (By the way, Haydn almost certainly didn't write it.)

In addition to being beautiful, it's the perfect tempo for a wedding march.

If they're into Bauhaus, you could use the first movement of Hindemith, but beautiful . . . They could meander in to "Summer Music." There's also the last variation in Nielsen, if it's a short walk.

Some movement from Darius Milhaud's "la cheminee du roi Rene"!

Some of the above will facilitate a divorce.

I would suggest the second movement of the Ibert Trois Pieces. Very beautiful, serene, and a stately pace for gliding down the aisle.

The first movement of the Ibert would be perfect for recessional!
And Reicha and Danzi quintets might fit the bill too (not sure which ones off the top of my head...haven't played wind quintets in a long time)
