 regarding the Buffett E11

Quick question...
I'm an Adult Amateur Player.
My playing currently is limited to the" Music Room" of my House.
I am currently playing a Leblanc Normandy 4 with a Hite Artist MP.
This Horn, at least to me sounds pretty nice, nice tone as well as very good Volume
Someone locally is selling a Buffet E11, made in Germany
I'm thinking about going over there and trying it out.
Would this E11 be a step up from the Normandy 4 and if so how?
Or would it just be a lateral move?
I only paid $125 for the Normandy, the Buffet on the other hand would cost me $525

I don't think the E11 would be much, if at all, better than your Normandy. I personally am not a fan of the E11, It's little more than a wood version of the plastic B12.

I fully second the above opinion.
Getting a used professional clarinet would be the best upgrade option, in my opinion. Leblanc may be a good choice, since you like Normandy.

I second the above comments. A well set up Normand 4 will play at least as well as an E11 and better than most. The E11 is a greatly over-rated instrument.

I echo the above opinions: The E11 is not an upgrade over a good Normandy 4.

To get the biggest bang for your buck at this point, consider investing in LESSONS, not equipment. A Normandy 4 and Hite mouthpiece, if both are in good shape, can take you a very long way.

If you ever see an E11 France at a tempting price either new or used, then avoid it like the plague at all costs!

Interesting Comments.
They seem to echo my thoughts as well.
Ive tried a number of Clarinets, but to be honest my Normandy 4 seems to sound better than all if them.
Based on these comments it doesn't look like others really like the E11 any better and maybe less than the Normandy 4
Based on these Comments I may just stay the course with my Normandy

The only E11 I even thought was a remotely good purchase was some new-old stock E11's in the key of A that were less than a grand. Souped up with some new barrels they played very well for their price and saved my younger orchestra kids quite a bit of money.

The E11 A clarinets are definitely worth it and one of the few entry level wooden A clarinets on the market, likewise with the E11 C and Eb clarinets.
