I recently acquired a Fobes Eb mouthpiece and am now looking for a good reed match. Since I play Legere on all of my other clarinets now, I'd like to try them for this, too. What strengths do you guys use (if any) that you feel work well? Either Eb or Bb reeds are fine as I have a Backun barrel with the cutout slot. I know everyone is a little different even with the same mouthpiece, but I'm trying to narrow down a good place to start. I tried my Bb Legere Signature #3, but it was too hard (my Bb mouthpiece is a Vandoren B46). I have a metal ligature as well as a Rovner light, so that should cover a wide variety of thicknesses of reed heels. I have a Bb Forestone #5 that I currently use as my Eb reed when I had a different mouthpiece, but I'm not fond of the tone it produces on the Fobes.
I wish I could pull out the non-existent center joint of my little Bundy just a little bit. Intonation is fairly decent and that would make a positive difference. Oh well.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Rachel
I play Eb, Bb, & Bass Legere reeds at Wicked on Broadway, & have for years. Use a "regular" Legere Eb reed on you new mpc, don't use a Bb Signature Legere, the pitch is not as good as a regular Legere Eb reed. The strengths vary & are a very personal choice. Try a 3,3.25, or 3.5, they all work for me. You can always exchange the Legere reeds for another choice in strength.
Good luck,
John
