 Another Buffet Clarinet identification request
Author: blowe
Date:   2015-09-12 23:10

We were just given a Buffet clarinet and we wanted to know what model of clarinet it is. Serial is 107153. Its in pretty rough shape as far as key corrosion but looks to be in decent working order. I'm adding some pictures to help but can add additional upon request. Thanks in advance for your help.

Looks like an R13 to me. No model designation in the old style.

That is what I have read. The serial # indicates it was built in 1969 and there is no stamp near the register key. I was hoping there would be some other indication...

Is the wood cut away under the RH little finger keys? that usually indicates an R13

My old Pre-R13 had the wood cut away underneath the RH keys and it was definitely not an R13. (It dates back to the mid-1940s.)

The pictured instrument has separate top joint G#/A key POSTS.
Separate posts - R13
Both keys on one post - pre-R13.

A cut out under the crow's foot confirms it is a professional model.
