Do you think this reed will actually work?

I was looking for some Legere reeds on Amazon, and I was curious so I turned on prices low to high. I found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Legere-BB4-5-Bb-Clarinet-Reed/dp/B000XZWSBQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1442007880&sr=1-1&keywords=legere+clarinet+reed

Notice how it is 5 dollars instead of 20.
Do you guys think this reed will really work?

If you use a 4.5 strength reed, go for it. Its a fraction of dealer cost and it looks legit.

That's a big, stiff "if." If I used a 4.5 reed, my brains would blow right out through my ears!

If you don't normally play on a 4.5 then this reed will be very hard to play. I suspect it is so low in price because nobody uses this size and the seller is trying to clear out inventory that has been sitting for awhile. You can soften it up by dipping it in a cup of almost boiling water for no more than a second at a time until it plays comfortably. Be careful with this method as it is easy to ruin your Legere reed if you overdo it.

You didn't buy it yet!? something marked down that much I would have bought it in a second just to put it on the shelf if not anything else.

I'd be suspicious if it were $4.99 for the reed and $10 shipping though...haha!

This thread got me curious so I ordered that 4.5 Legere reed and it came today. Well!...maybe it'll soften up but I'd say it's stiffer than a 4.5, Much stiffer. Maybe at least a 5-5.5? I've been breaking in a few #4's and their a breeze to blow compared to this Legere. And this is on a 5RV.

Marked it WOW! and put it on the shelf.
