 Vandoren V21 Break In Habits
Author: Exiawolf

Greetings!

People have reported that the V21's have a very interesting break in process, and I am finding the same thing. For those of you who have used V21's, have you come to almost expect that some of the "worst" reeds in the box on day 1 could possibly turn into the best reed from the box?

I haven't. They're made of the same stuff the other reeds are made of. I expect - and haven't found a reason to think otherwise so far - that they would behave the same way other reeds behave.

Well, yes, but that is not uncommon as you re-hydrate Vandoren V12s either. The odd thing with both of those cuts is more that the "swings" can take a week or more to settle. I have had more linear experiences with the Rue Lepic 56 cut.

But as long as I eventually get focus AND warmth and LONG service, I am willing to put up with a temperamental reed (I'm not so easy to get along with either!).
