 Thickest Mouthpiece Patches
Author: nata

Hello!

Could you all please recommend me the type of mouthpiece patch that is the thickest and has a rough surface (so teeth won't slide around)?

Thanks!

I bought mine for soprano MPs on Ebay. 0.5 mm thick. If thicker, I start leaking at the edges of the patch.

Runyon black patches are pretty thick. The surface is smooth, but it's a fairly soft rubber that your teeth will probably settle into more than harder plastic patches.

No reason to be laughed at. Years ago before such pads were manufactured commercially (and self- adhesive) bicycle repair patches were widely used. Some of my old mouthpieces still have them. They are rather thick and soft. Personally I prefer the modern thin and transparent ones.

I like the Charles Bay patches. They are sold with 3 different thicknesses on Muncy Winds --www.muncywinds.com

You don't have to use the repair patch. If you're going for thick, use a piece of a bicycle inner tube. You don't need any adhesive except your own spit. I prefer thinner patches myself but played with this years ago when my teeth were very sensitive because of braces.

You can put one on top of another for extra thickness.

Bicycle puncture repair patches have no sharp edges that can leak. I will try them.
