Have seen some posts having to do with the dates of Boosey & Hawkes clarinets based on their serial numbers. But I have found three different guides with great variation. So, which one do we trust?
I have a grenadilla Edgware, serial N (angled) then 164811. Here are the three lists and what they tell me:
http://www.horn-u-copia.net/serial/BooseyHawkeslist.html (1947)
http://www.uark.edu/ua/nc/ClarinetCollections/Boosey%20&%20Hawkes%20Clarinet%20Serial%20Numbers.htm (1976)
staging.horniman.ac.uk/media/_file/bandh_handlists_web.pdf (1958)
From the style of the case, I find 1958 to seem most plausible (blue cloth over wood, stitched leather handle and edging, and what I think are Cheney hasps). Thanks for any thoughts.

1958 agrees with my list which I obtained about 15-20 years ago from senior B&H management during a professional vist to the Edgware factory.
Even that list has a few holes in it that I have to extrapolate but B&H said it was the best they had.
I think the Horniman list is more complete but from memory tends show show a wider range of options for any given serial number, however it's by far the most accurate out there.
