"Best"? Best at what? I thought that each competent teacher had a unique set of teaching talents that worked great for some, but not always for others.
Well. I suppose the best teacher in one's area would be the teacher of the best clarinetist in one's area.

Living in the NY Metro Area, there's clearly no shortage of teachers to choose from. Still more, bmcgar makes a solid point about not only the differing strengths of competent teachers, but how sometimes there has to be the right "feel/fit" between student and teacher.
Still, that said, 1 best teacher clearly does emerge in my area, who I think you will all agree upon.
That person is, beyond a doubt,
