I previously posted about a wooden Bb clarinet that picked up at a flea market and this forum was very helpful as I tried to figure out exactly what I bought for $20. So as I got it repadded and it just doesn't play well all of the time I took it to a repairman who suggested that the Buffett barrel that came with it may be some of the cause in addition to the loose post and lower joint keys out of alignment. As the repairs are being made I thought I might research barrels a bit.
Does anyone know what the bore size is on a 4-20 or replacement barrels that work well with them? I am obviously going to try some out to see what works for me with my mouthpiece but I thought if I could narrow down the field a little in my search it might be good. Thanks.

Any barrel for a B&H Regent, Edgware, Emperor or Imperial 926 will work with your clarinet. I'd suggest you start with a 67mm barrel as the throat notes on B&H clarinets will be on the sharp side and you may have to pull the barrel out by 1-2mm to put the instrument in tune with itself.
Have a look on eBay for B&H parts and you may find a suitable barrel.

Thanks. Not sure it'll be that easy to find those barrels here in the U.S. As these clarinets are not all that popular here, but it was an avenue I wanted to explore finding something close to the original barrel that should have been with it. I also was looking for any insight on some of the newer technology barrels.

I've found that Penzel Mueller barrels work with B & H clarinets, at least they do on mine. If you can't find anything locally (i.e. in the US) drop me an email, I may be able to dig one up. If you click on my name you'll get my email address.

While you're searching for a B&H barrel, a barrel from a Bundy 1400 should work fine--they play well on my 1-10 and 8-10. One the 1-10, I actually prefer a Bundy barrel to the original B&H unit--tuning accuracy is significantly improved.
1-10, 4-20, and 8-10 all have the same bore size: .593 inches. The Bundy 1400 is very close at .590.
The Backun MoBa barrel I have yields very wide twelfths on my Booseys. Ridenour Ivorolon and Doctor's Products Power Barrels do not have this problem.
