 Still take lessons

Does one still take lessons once they have reached a certain level of proficiency ? Or are lessons a lifelong endeavor?

I wonder if even advanced performers would benefit, not so much from lessons per se, but from coaching. It would seem analogous to elite atheletes being coached throughout their training. It would provide another set of ears and eyes, along with knowledgeable feedback incorporated in a listener's perspective. So, not much new would be "taught", but valuable focus and fine tuning would be facilitated. . . . . Just a personal theory.

Some friends of mine could not see a time when they don't take lessons. It is another pair of ears to assess what is going on. Even great soloists may develop a little "hiccup" that they go to a teacher to assess.


Many also just rely on the feedback of colleagues as mentioned above.


But you NEVER NEVER NEVER stop learning. You always continue to strive to get better, do more than you did the previous season. Learning NEVER stops.
