This seminar took place in Stockholm in late January this year. Every aspect of clarinetism known to man was represented over the three days.
The senior gentleman Sölve Kingstedt figuring in an intervieuw in the middle and at the end is the Grand dad of clarinet in Sweden. He's the teacher of Martin Fröst, Håkan Rosengren, myself and many others.

Wonderful looking event !!!! I was struck by the seeming emphasis on the event being participatory and the fact that most of what was in the synopsis was more melodic music. Both these aspects are quite lacking in the US versions of this sort of get together, and that's sad. Since we ostensibly train to be ensemble musicians, this should be always encouraged at group events. And of course I feel that the clarinet is a uniquely vocal sort of instrument and should consequently have more melodic opportunities that what is usually afforded by the latest and greatest compositional efforts.
Three cheers for Stockholm !!!!

Thanks! I quite enjoyed this. Despite having Swedish heritage I can't understand a word, but it still kept me interested.
There are two boys in a local Danish family who boys study with me. They will find it interesting I'm sure. (The languages are similar enough that they will be able to understand most or all of it).
