 how to get back in shape after cold

What do you practice after being sick and not playing for 3 days? I got hit with a cold and am getting back in shape and was curious what others do. I'm doing JeanJean Vade Mecum and Hamelin exercises.

Whatever I was practicing before I got sick. :)

3 days isn't really long enough to be "out of shape." Maybe just a little stiff, but nothing a few minutes' playing shouldn't fix.

I keep playing through the cold or else I don't get paid...

I agree that you pick up where you left off.

I'll add, though, that a couple things about playing do seem more susceptible to loss from time off. One is memorization; you might lose ground on things you were memorizing or forget some details in things you thought you had memorized. You have to keep at memorized repertiore.

The other seems to be tonguing. I seem to lose noticeably more in that facet of technique over a few days off than I do in fingering or sound etc. So when I return I have to spend a little more time on tonguing for a couple days.

I notice just one day off in my playing. I've had to miss a whole week before, and it's not the end of the world, and it even has positive effects, but it takes at least another week of practice until I feel back to where I was.

My biggest problem with time off is depression - the longer I miss playing, the worse the depression.

Just resume your normal practice routine.
