Hallo to everyone!
I need your help...I am desperately searching for a short 62.5 mm barrel for my old selmer recital (bought in 1990). The ones that Selmer produces now have the silver rings which are plain, while my recital has the traditional corrugated silver rings...Do you have any idea of where I can find one of such old barrel?
I am in Europe but I don't mind in buying from U.S. or other places...
thanks in advance!

The only thing that matters is how well it plays. If I found a great barrel made of corrugated tin with orange and red polka dots, I'd buy it in a clarinet minute.
I actually play on a cocuswood Opperman barrel that's yellowish brown.

Yes, but Selmer Recital requires a specific bore design barrel, so that's way I am searching for an original one...but really, I have searched allo over the world in these days and it seems that there is no old selmer recital barrel anywhere!
plenty of old serie 10, 9, centered tone etc, but nothing for Recitals...:(

It wouldn't be hard or expensive to have your existing barrel shortened. Or, even easier, you could find a new-style short barrel where you like the sound and swap the rings from your old one (assuming they kept the same size socket). In both cases you lose your old longer barrel, but I'd say it's better to get used to playing with a single barrel - which then needs to be short enough that you can still be in pitch in cold conditions. Some clarinets are designed specifically to be in tune with the barrel pulled out 1mm for this very reason.

Have you tried contacting Selmer Paris directly ? Stephane Gentil is their artist representative and may be reached at sgentil@selmer.fr

What letter does your serial number start with? I am going to go look at an older Recital this weekend. The seller knows it is at least 15 years old. I've seen newer Recital barrels from time to time on that auction site but the rings seem to be thinner than the older grooved Selmer style rings.
