Under-rated? Not by anyone with ears, surely.
Under-recorded certainly: it's a great shame there aren't more recordings of him in the catalogue (although he's there unattributed on many orchestral recordings, especially from the Beecham RPO days). But the BBC must have hours of tapes of him doing chamber repertoire sitting in the vaults - maddening that no-one's doing something to release it. I remember attending a magical recital with piano that he gave in the late 1970s: how I wish I could hear it again.

I adore Brymer! What a velvety sound! I heard the Krummer concerto on Radio 3 recently and had to stop the car to listen properly. I knew it was him! My teacher said she had posters of him on her bedroom wall when she was a teenager, like others had pics. of the Beatles....

While I am a fan of Brymer's playing, enjoy the sound of the B&H 1010, I found this interpretation quite boring.

Jeron, I think it is Arjan Woudenberg. It took me a while to find him but he is amazing. David S, I agree Alessandro is wonderful in anything he does.
How lucky are we to live in an age where these amazing performers and this glorious music is available at our fingertips? :-)
