Practice when fighting the flu bug
Author: lenc

I'm here suffering some aches in my joints and sore throat. But I really wanted to practice a bit. Is there any thing I could do to make sure I won't "contaminate" my reeds? Would cleaning the reed with mouthwash okay after practice?

Thanks!

Maybe just use a reed that you're willing to throw out once you feel better? Anyway, if it's really the flu or any other virus, you'll have immunity to it once you've recovered that will at least outlast the reed. So in my medically unqualified opinion you needn't worry much about contaminating the reed with anything that will make you relapse later.

Once you have the flu, you develop antibodies that will keep you from getting it again, particularly from reeds that contain only that particular strain.

For many years I've practiced as much as I can when I'm sick, and I've never gotten a relapse.

The problem is that it is not certain what you have unless you take a throat culture and have a lab grow it and then identify it.
