I'm currently in the market for a new instrument to start playing again after quite a few years. An interesting possibility I ran across is the Kessler Custom Bb Artist clarinet. I've read good things about Kesslers saxophones, but not much of anything about their Bb clarinets. Has anyone out there has a chance to try one out? Might it be worth the shipping to try one out for a few days, or should I pass it by completely in favor of more established brands?

Are you looking for a Professional Clarinet?

A student has one, and I tried the Prototype - you would be surprised at how good it is, but it is not a Pro Clarinet. Better than the E-11, and E12F though. The bore is small. Backun Protege is better, the Ridenour G1 is much better (that G1 is actually a very good Pro Clarinet). A student who played Buffet Tosca actually preferred the G1 to his Tosca. He ended up buying a set of Backun MoBa's.
Mike Hammer Woodwinds has the last G1's as it was a very limited production.

btw - all I listed come in Wood with Silver Keys, Backun can be in Gold

Several students play Kessler's Sax - great!

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking for a professional model, per se, as my budget is fairly limted. That being said, I'd appreciate something that I can grow into a bit. At this point I've been looking at some Ridenours as well as the Backun Alpha.
