I bought one for my student before. I bought it $200 from a music shop on ebay. The clarinet was repad and adjusted. In great playing condition but the plating is poor.

IMO, it is a great clarinet for student. Not as good as yamaha 450, but still a great horn. I didn't find any big tuning problem. The key-work is very solid. The resistance is easy to handle. (becaused of the cylindrical bore?)

Whatever you play a vintage clarinet or modern clarinet, the most important point is make sure your clarinet is in good adjusted condition.

My experience is exactly the same as efsf081, having recommended their purchase several times -- for a student or intermediate player, a great option while developing.

I very good clarinet but $200 would be the tops I'd pay for one in outstanding condition. I've owned a lot of Selmers but am now in the Yamaha mafia.

the Japanese mafia is called the Yakuza. So that would be the Japanese Yakuza.

Don't want to disrespect the Buffet Mafia (which is related to the Italian version because of the European Union treaty)

I have a Signet Special in front of me now ... not as good in tuning and evenness as many modern instrument designs but this old Selmer has a nice big sound. This one came with a Selmer C85-115 MP (loud!).

I like the feel of the keywork on many older Selmers ...
