Is there a decent fingering for trilling between Chalumeau C# and D# short of acquiring a Bis key?
I can’t seem to cover the hole for the left pointer finger and extend it to the pad immediately below, all while fingering a Chalumeau C#, as a Bis key would facilitate.
The 12th above Clarion G# to A# at least allows the player to pick up and down the left pointer finger to effect this trill.
Maybe the forked finger Chalumeau D# is the lesser of all bad fingerings here?

...never changing the position of the left hand fingers during said trill??? (i.e. constant fingering of the C#? for the life of the trill?)

Yes. Keep the C# fingering constant. Trill with R1.

If you're handy in making your own keywork alterations, you can solder a bar to the LH2 ring key linkage so it engages with the top side of the C#/G# pad cup or solder a bar to the C#/G# cup arm to raise the LH2 linkage, so either way, when you hold the C#/G# key down, the LH2 ring key pad is closed so you can do a C#-D# (Db-Eb) trill by trilling with LH2 only. B&H fitted this simple linkage to some of their clarinets back in the '50s or maybe earlier.

The trill with the bottom side key sounds bad and is flat. It's better to rotate your left index finger so that it holds down the pad below and trill with your middle, ring and little fingers. This trill is wide, but it's the best that's available.

Thanks for the fingering...could've sworn I tried that. Yes, not the finest intonation fingerings, as Ken said, but plenty of trill fingers on the clarinet leave something behind regarding their underlying note's beauty and pitch, in exchange for ease.
(e.g. throat tone trills, Clarion (just above the treble staff) B to C# with two lower side trills or left thumb play, Chalameau (below the treble staff) F# to G# keeping left pinky down, same for Clarion full fingered C# to D#
...the price we pay I suspect.
...have to see if a bis key causes my left pointer Chalameu E and Clarion (just above the treble staff) B to miss fire as Eb and Bb respectively.

I've tried all suggestions. RH1 (what I call RH4) works and is relatively easy but is flat and, worse than that, sounds horrible. Ken Shaw's suggestion is harder to set up but once the fingers are in place it's easy, and sounds good although it's slightly sharp on my clarinet without any change of embouchure. Even easier, though even sharper, if you only raise middle and ring fingers. Choices, choices. As always, perfect is a question of compromise
