 Selmer Signet diffrences

Quick question, how can you tell the various Signets apart?
the basic, the special and the Soloist.... will they actually have the model embosed on them so you can tell or how else can you tell them apart?
Thanks,
Ben Shaffer

I have had several signet 100's. They seem rather nice when given love. Each one, for me, has had 100 engraved highest, then the Signet icon below, then Selmer USA below that. I can't get a good picture as all of the golden ink is now gone. Sadly I haven't gotten my hands on the higher models. Given their generally higher price, in the very least the market has determined they're more special.

The Soloist has the word "SOLOIST" stamped into the wood just above the Signet logo on the upper stack and on the bell. My understanding is that Soloists were given a bit more setup than the other models but are basically the same. Decent keywork, nice wood; generally good horn if looked after.

Like the Soloist, the word "SPECIAL" is stamped above the logo on the upper joint and bell. There doesn't seem to be room for it above the logo on the lower joint.

Back in 1970, I recall the salesman at the music store saying the extra cost for the Soloist was because it had an extra layer of plating on the keys and a better case. Whether this is true or just salesman talk I don't know, but for some reason I remember it.

This is my only clarinet, which has been well-used, and due to ignorance at times abused, but it will serve me well at tonight's dress rehearsal and tomorrow's concert.
