I am looking for some information on a Buffet Crampon clarinet I have. I believe it is an R13 professional? - even if I am correct there seem to be many different variations of this model and different time frames it was made etc. I will post some photos - if anyone can help it would greatly be appreciated.

It's an R13, serial number 120413. Based on the serial number chart at http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Equipment/HowOld/Buffet.html, it was made in 1971. My own R13s are from that time.

R13s made at that time sounded great, but the intonation was variable http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Equipment/Intonation.html -- sometimes very good, but sometimes very bad. They are amenable to tweaking (mine had a lot).

Everything depends on how it plays **for you**.

Thanks so much Ken. I don't play. I am liquidating an estate this weekend for an elderly couple and thought it was a quality piece but when researching it could not pinpoint the specifics. I would like to get enough information to get her a fair price for it this weekend - if it does not sell we will sell it online for her I guess. I assuming it is a professional instrument rather than a "student" model? It seems like prices are all over the place with them depending on what the keys are made of and anything unique to the instrument. Any idea what I should ask for it? It appears to be in great, used condition. Thanks again, Amy
