Double Case Madness

I'm currently using the Selmer Privilege double case and I'm finding it very inconvenient to carry a bass clarinet, gig bag, and double case all separately to rehearsals and performances.

Combining the gig bag with double case was my first thought. I've already looked at the Bam trekking case and the only thing keeping me from buying it yet is the price. The Allora double case and Altieri case cover are also options. (If you need some pictures of my current double case, let me know)

Must have features are the backpack straps and enough space for a folder with music and the standard clarinet accessories.

If anyone could help me with any personal feedback or suggestions on cases I would really appreciate it.

Wiseman do a combination bass clarinet case which will accommodate other clarinets in there as well, but they are expensive.

Now you know what it's like to be a percussionist.

I have single cases for my Bb & A clarinets. That way, I don't have to schlep an instrument (usually the A) that I don't need. The two single cases are easier to fit in bags than one double case.

Allora double case is very light, inexpensive, fits 2 clarinets/2 MPCs/4 barrels and has backpack straps in addition to shoulder strap. The music pocket will fit a very thin folder with few pages of music, but not a binder (even a thin one). There is enough space for multiple reed cases, small metronome and tuner perhaps.

I'd look for a generic backpack which can fit your double case, music + all you carry in gig bag.. for ~$30 or so.

I use a large duffel bag with a shoulder strap, and can fit in that a variety of flutes, clarinets, soprano sax or whatever the job calls for, including gig bag, music, instrument stands...versatile and relatively inexpensive. The bass clarinet or larger saxes go separately.

Used to use triple cases, but they are very heavy, so I started using a wheelie cart which can also hold my stand, three to four instruments, gig bag, etc. Very happy with that and never looked back.
