If you haven't tried this particular one, it's worth looking into it. The legs are on a central spindle that screw onto the "peg." Once unscrewed, the legs fold together and fit INSIDE the "peg" (which is a hollow cone). Really ingenious and not detrimental to the bell at all during transport. Of course the legs are only so big, but as I'd said earlier it is as stable as most of these single instrument tripod style stands.
