I am playing a 1950's vintage malern stencil (I think) which plays quite sharp. I need to pull the barrel 2-3 mm to bring it down to A-440. I play a Rico reserve x105 mouthpiece. I might like a longer barrel, but I'm not so suremost aftermarket barrels would fit.
My current barrel measures 63 mm overall length. A standard mouthpiece is pretty snug bit basically fits. The upper joint end receiver measures .910 inches diameter, .825 inches deep. Is this a standard size too? It seems to me that the barrels on my other clarinets are different.
Just checked: the other barrels have a larger diameter and are not as deep.
Am I stuck with the barrel I have unless I have one custom made?
This might be a reason to upgrade the whole clarinet.

Try giving Backun a call. They should be able to tell you whether there barrels will fit, and if they will you can have them send you some to try. Try the MOBA and the Fatboy in 65, and 66mm in both grenadilla and cocobolo.

It sounds like you'll need a custom barrel unless you can find a used 1950s Malerne stencil on Ebay or somewhere else with a barrel that happens to be longer. Since it doesn't really matter what condition the duplicate is in - you may be able to harvest other parts if you need them - it shouldn't be expensive. A Google search came up with at least one currently on Ebay. If you go to Ebay and search there you may find several.
There custom makers around - maybe Backun (already suggested, although they're very busy up there) or Allan Segal (check the link on the right to Mouthpieces and Barrels), with whom I've had very satisfactory dealings. You will almost certainly have to send your barrel - I doubt either Morrie or Allan or anyone else will want to use your measurements.
I suppose much depends on how attached you really are to the Malerne. Clarinet technology has come a long way since then.
