ClarinetFest2014: One Fellow's Musings

Just wanted to share some thoughts I had about some of the things I tried at ClarinetFest this year with any fellow GAS sufferers and gearheads who might be interested. As ever, YMMV, the opinions expressed within hereforth and hithertofore ipsum facto dolor are solely those of the expressor, so on and so forth blah blah yadda yadda, don't steal Fizzy Lifting Drinks, etc etc... (this should be evident, but just to cover the bases, I must mention that I have not been paid to say or NOT say anything I've written, everything I write is purely of my own volition. Nothing is ever meant to be taken personally by any persons or entities affiliated with any persons or entities mentioned herein, and all that sort of thing! I had an extremely informative lunch meeting with Mrs. Moe. Most of what we talked about is hush-hush but I can assure you the Uebel brand is coming to the US of A. I always feel weird approaching people in real life who I only know as personas online...it's like, how do you bring that up? (and I don't even play cocobolo clarinets anymore; THE SHAME.) Thanks for having that bass there, man. It's one of the most amazing things I have ever played (and probably the most amazing thing Buffet has ever produced), and a nerd-gasm Uebel email is forthcoming! I am blown away by those instruments. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it...it was a fun day, and it was fun to write about!

Author: CocoboloKid  Date:   2014-08-06 11:41 Well, it's still not too terribly much more than what the ex-VAT Euro pricing works out to (only about a thousand dollars, I've seen worse!), and I believe that still places it *slightly* below the Selmer Privilege in price, which is shown as selling for $12,659 at Everyone's Favorite Big Mail Order Shops. It's such a wonderful instrument that I actually think even at that price it's quite reasonable. It SHOULD be appreciably more expensive than the 1193, just as the Tosca Bb and A are more expensive than the Prestige Bb/A. That kind of R&D and build quality doesn't come for free, after all!
