Stuck Bell

I have a wooden clarinet that I picked up at a flea market made in 1929 and the bell is stuck. Could have been that way for many years. Can someone please tell me how to get it apart without damaging it. Thanks very much.

Pour food grade olive oil over the joint and let it sit for a few hours. You can wipe the excess off of the outside if you desire but it will not hurt the instrument. The best way to pull the bell is to gently rock it back and forth, it is not advisable to twist as it is very easy to break the lower keys this way. It would be a good idea to let the olive oil soak into the joint completely before trying to pull the bell off. The oil will both act as a lubricant and will also expand the socket slightly.

I use this method all the time for old clarinets and so far I have not had bell that I cannot remove
