I'm looking for a case with minimal footprint to store an "A" and "Bb" clarinet, and maybe a couple of extra barrels.
It need not carry much other than that in the case, and it need not have a cover, as I plan to stick the case in a larger shoulder bag that holds all my clarinet gear, minus the clarinets themselves.
I know the Buffet/Jacob Winter Pouchette is small and form fitting, but I can neither afford the case, nor like the idea of the bell and lower joint being so close together when stored in the case. Same goes for Wiseman.
....looking for an attache that's close to square in length and width.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Yeah - the Yamaha double case is nearly square, very compact and all the joints are separated. There's a drop down lid compartment for some sheet music, slot for a tube of cork grease, space for four barrels and two mouthpieces and a reasonable sized compartment for reeds, pullthroughs, etc.

Your best bet is to check with woodwind specialists as they may have spare Yamaha double cases if someone's bought a pair of Yamahas and ditched the stock double case in favour of a back-pack style zip up case. All Yamaha A clarinets are supplied in a double case, so someone buying a Yamaha A may not want the stock case either and house the A clarinet in their own double case.
Another place to check is eBay - I bought an older (and much larger) Yamaha double case off eBay for under £50.

Thanks...saw that in a 2005 post here--wondering if a near decade later times had changed...

Bought a "new" but slightly damaged Yamaha double case only recently - has space for 4 barrels and all joints separated.
Dimensions approx 16 x 12 x 4 inches - smallest regular double I have seen recently.
