 N.B. within score

I know that N.B. means Nota Bene, but we can't figure out what it should mean in the context of the attached score snippet. We thought it might also mean "no breathing", but the same lick appears further down, that time without such instructions, with even a double bar line in between.

Any clues?

It could very well mean "no breath" because of the way the phrase is laid out with that long C dropping down to a short B, and a rest just beyond the B. In this case, I don't think it means "note well".

You have an eighth plus a half note plus a whole note tied together, which is easy to miscount, giving the whole note only two beats. To me, it means "watch out - counting trap."

With no more context, my vote is for No Breath.

No breath. Given that this whole note tie is followed by only 2 eighth notes, it makes sense not to breath until the subsequent rest.

Can you give us the whole page?

By the way, is this an extracted part via a notation program? A bit of notation can sometimes stray from one part of a score into a part to which it wasn't intended to refer.

Anyway, I think it likely that N.B. does mean, 'nota bene' rather than 'no breath'.

by presenting the whole page I might violate someone's copyright...

On my Bass part, the NB doesn't show up. Nor does it on the scanned snippet part in a similar situation further down.

Perhaps you're right, maybe it's a typesetting leftover that managed to survive.
We decided it means "Nicht Beachten", i.e. "ignore this". Also the editor couldn't come up with a meaningful explanation. :-)
