A different post involving playing minor scales got me thinking about this: Let's say you're playing in a Concert Band and the Conductor calls for the band to play....let's say.....the C Maj scale. Do you play C or D?

Typically the director will tell the band the scale in "concert" pitch, meaning the "actual" sound of the scale, therefore clarinets, trumpets, and tenor saxes would play D in your scenario.

They usually mean Concert C Major and as you should already know the correct transposition for your instrument (in this case a Bb clarinet), you will play a D major scale.
Otherwise they'd have to say "a C Major scale from the piccolos, flutes, oboes, bassoons trombones, euphoniums and tubas, a D Major scale from the clarinets, bass clarinets, tenor saxes and trumpets/cornets, a G Major scale from the horns and an A Major scale from the Eb clarinet, alto clarinet, alto saxes, bari sax (and tenor horns if they're allowed in the band)".
