Hmm... Looks like you need a screwdriver to tighten it or at least very uncomfortable if not impossible to tighten with your fingers... unless you were sarcastric and I missed it...

In 1988 I hosted a German clarinet player called Andreas Weiss. He played Oehler system, and for ligature would buy a Luyben- then cut it in half with scissors and use the top half in manner shown above. Would probably get a very similar result, only you could tighten it with your fingers rather than a screwdriver.

it can be tightened with a penny. We Swiss, of course, would use our pocket knives.

Those hose clamps used to come with a thumb screw as an alternate to the slotted head.
