BC is the first part of the catalogue number and will determine which model it is - E13, C12, R13, RC, Festival, Vintage, DG Prestige, R13 Prestige, RC Prestige, Elite, Tosca, Divine, alto, A, C, D, Eb, bass, contra-alto.
R13s don't have the model name/number stamped on them below the Buffet logo, so are generally recognised by the lack of that info. All other Buffets have the model name/number stamped on them or have an oval silver badge inset into the top joint below the Buffet logo.
There is a formula to the catalogue numbers showing which model Buffet clarinet is which depending on the number following BC.
