Istanbul Clarinet Choir

Yesterday I heard an hour-long concert by this group on TRT Muzik, the Turkish music channel. The name of the program is "klarnetler ve renkler" (Clarinets and Colors). 9 b-flats, 3 altos, 3 basses and a contra along with singers a percussion section and a soloist. The soloist played a German system G clarinet and the group all played Boehm system. They played traditional Turkish music and some poppier stuff with some incredible solos. If anyone has Free-To-Air satellite TV this is worth watching. (G19ku 11960V SR 22,000). This would be a great group to invite to a ClarinetFest.

Sorry, I forgot to say that the concert will be repeated on Sunday at 2:00PM Turkish time, 7:00AM Eastern time.

You piqued my curiosity and since I don't have TRT Muzik, I went to youtube. I typed in Istanbul Clarinet choir and got several hits. Those folks can PLAY! I love the variety of sounds and effects they can get from their instruments. I agree...bring them to the USA! It would be a treat to hear them in person.
