I remember reading on BBoards that the longer the clarinet you use, the softer your reed should be. Does the reverse hold true for Eb reeds? If I normally play a 2 1/2- 2 3/4 reed on my Bb, should I buy a stiffer reed for the Eb? If I should, how much stiffer do you think I should go? THANKS in advance:)

For all of the instruments, it really depends on what reed matches your mouthpiece, you and your style of playing and experience.

It's tempting to use hard reeds on the Eb, because it makes the high notes "pop" better. At least in a band, that's the wrong way to go. The Eb player is not the leader of the clarinet section. The first chair Bb player is. Your job is to add sparkle to the section sound, not to lead or overpower it.
Eb orchestral parts are sometimes solos and sometimes sparkle adders. For an Eb solo, you step forward, just as another principal player would. Composers write for the Eb *intending* that it sound different from the Bb. The big solo in Symphonie Fantastique has to sound wild in a way that's impossible on the Bb. The little solos in the Mahler 1st first movement are bright, bird-like and even pecky. The end of Daphnis & Chloe Suite #2 needs the Eb as it gets wilder and wilder. However, when you're playing an octave higher, you're already clearly audible. You want to make the sound fiery, not set it on fire.

I agree with my name sake, Ed. You use what you're comfortable with depending on your mouthpiece so you get the tone and comfort level you want and need. Of course it needs to be hard enough to play all the registers but that's the same on any clarinet. Find your best comfort and control level.

You can also use Bb clarinet reeds on an Eb. But most Eb clarinets require the Bb reed to be trimmed down a little on the bottom or else it rests on the barrel ring.

And to add to the above suggestion of the Bb reeds, Backun makes after market Eb barrels with a flat notch on one side to accommodate an unaltered Bb reed.
