 Steuer reeds

I was looking for a more powerful sound to stand out in a jazz ensemble, and was introduced to Steuer Classic reeds [http://steuer-reeds.eu/en/], which I had never heard of before. I'm impressed. They are expensive, but out of a box of ten, I got seven terrific reeds and three more that play beautifully after a wee bit of adjustment. They seem to last a long time as well. For the record, I'm playing strength 3 on a Vandoren CL5 mouthpiece.

I've been using Steuer reeds for a few years on Oehler-system bass clarinet (they are one of the few reeds sized for that instrument). I like them too.

What would the reeds cost, including shipping to U.S.A. Thanks

Steuer reeds can be really ecellent. But I think the design has changed recently. Are they still manufactured in Germany? The older 'French cut 1' is one of my favourite, but it gets more and more difficult to buy from that old stock. The cane quality of the Classic and Exclusive are still good, but in my opinion inferior to the older ones.

On the box, it says they are made in France. To my eye (and ear) the cane quality looks excellent. Dunno what they might cost in US, but here in Paris they are 33 euros for the Classics and 38 euros (ouch!) for the Exclusives.

Not cheap even if it were 1 to 1 with USD. My reeds cost 17.50 US...

I'm always curious to see what's out there, so maybe I'll split a box with someone =)
