My Clarinet Student Elia got ranked #3 Clarinetist in the National Band!!

Festival is going on now in Nashville.

There were over 3000 applicants from all over the US for the group of top All State students

I teach a sophomore who made second clarinet in the orchestra (Roman Carnival Overture and Mahler 1: Movement 4).

RMK - nice!! The Band got about 7 pieces. I heard Orch was doing Mahler 1.

In PA, we can't make All State till 10th grade, so last year would have been her first year to do this.

She plans on majoring in Performance.
I don't encourage that easily, quite rarely actually, and even then because their passion isn't quelled by anything else.

Then it's still quite a long shot. She's read the "dose of reality" articles here, and elsewhere.

Must go in knowing what the reality of it is, and she's quite level headed.
