 Forestone G tuned

Just got a premium Forestone reed which is G tuned. They do sound different from their regular reed. Any idea what they mean by G tuned? They mention "full spectrum" in their description.

Maybe that's the note it makes when held overhanging the edge of a table and twanged like you'd do with a ruler.

For starters, is it a sax or clarinet reed??

It's tuned with a string.

I'm talking clarinet I believe they use the same terminology for sax.

If you're not in trouble you're not pushing the envelope enough in life.

Forestone's site says only that their Premium Cut reeds are "G-Tuned," but doesn't say what that means.

I'm not convinced that the difference is that when you hold the tip of the reed on a table with the butt dangling over and flip the butt, it sounds "G" -- which would depend on how much was hanging over the edge.

That is, what's the difference between the way the regular and the G-tuned Premium Cut reeds play? Has anyone tried them both?

For those who have tried them, how do the strength numbers compare with blue-box Vandorens or Rico Reserve Classics?

Yes, I've played both. The premium maybe has more clarity of sound. I play 41/2. approx.. comparable to 3 1/2 of Reserves.
