Is it worth having serviced?

I want to ID a lovely all-wood clarinet. It has SN: S76*** and "Made in Germany" on it at the middle joint (Note: It does NOT say "W.Germany".) I presume that the 'S' prefix might help identify a maker?! Comes in a cute little "suitcase" that was once buff and a greenish brown (since been painted blue). Other than that, I know nothing. I just want to know if it's worth having cleaned, padded and corked since I'm always strapped for cash! Thanks to anyone who might enlighten me.

Probably not. As a general rule you shouldn't invest money in having a clarinet overhauled unless you have some idea of how well the instrument will play. This is especially true if you have a clarinet of unknown lineage that will have a very low resale value even if it turns out to be a good player (and that's a pretty big IF since most unbranded stencil clarinets weren't of very good quality).
