 Evette schaeffer clarinet
Author: Franknh2010

I have two evette schaeffer clarints. The first is a evette schaeffer modele serial number 54xx. The other is evette schaeffer master model serial number 78xx. I'd like to know are these the same or is there a difference between modele, and master model. They both play great and have the separated a key just like the higher end buffet. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is there a letter prefix before either of the serial numbers?

Lee Gibson carefully measured a master model and compared it, favorably, with the r13, in The Clarinet magazine some 25 years ago.

I forgot to say that both clarinets are serial number K54xx and K78xx. That does make a difference

I've heard (rumor mill) that the k-series are better quality than other series Evette and schaeffers. Maybe, maybe not.

What I DO know is I have a k-series Evette and schaeffer and have had it professionally tuned and worked up (undercutting, voicing, etc), and it plays better than every clarinet I've played in the past ten years that I can remember with the exception of one that I can remember.

If it is already a great horn, with a good tech giving it a work over with voicing, it should become a phenomenal horn.

Some "FOUR DIGIT" K-series Evette and Schaeffer clarinets have been made by Malerne.

I did a re-pad on a 4 digit Evette-Schaeffer last month. It had been in the closet since shortly after it had been bought. This definitely wasn't like the E-13s I have had or currently have. I didn't care for it.

For me, I have started keeping an ES clarinet for personal use. I can usually buy them dirt cheap, rework and play them, then sell and buy another.

The one I currently use has a K27,xxx S/N, and really plays well. So much so that I've considered sending the metal off to be silver plated and keep it, but the older I get the lazier and more frugal I become. So, I'll probably just leave it alone. This horn has the ping I love in certain Buffets.Vytas wrote:
