Exactly where is the Prelude & Libestod located in the opera. Prelude I
assume is Act I opening? Libestod ? Act III? Thanks. I have downloaded
part from IMSLP but it is difficult to find part that includes just those sections.

Liebestod is at the end of the opera. The final chord is a major one, but - spoiler alert - it's not a comedy.

You can turn it into light music by playing a B6/9 chord at the end.

IMSLP also has the full scores of just the two excerpts.

In the 1st clarinet part, the Prelude begins at the beginning, and runs until the time change to 3/4 at "Der Vorhang geht auf", at the end of page 1. The Liebestod begins on page 32 at "Sehr Massig Beginnend" (28 bars before letter GG) and continues to the end.

In the 2nd clarinet part, the Prelude ends at the corresponding spot near the end of page 1. The Liebestod begins at the corresponding spot on page 30.

In the bass clarinet part, same idea for the prelude. The Liebestod begins on page 22. I trust that whoever's going to play the part can handle the double whammy of the A instrument notated in bass clef.

I played the bass part last year , but I put it in Finale for treble clef in B flat. I believe in using technology to my advantage when I can.
